Keeping you in the loop on all things PTA!

This LAPTA Leader Notes includes the following important items:

1) Looking Ahead: Over the Next Four Months

2) Reflections Entries Due January 18th

3) 2026 Legislative Conference

4) Lets Grow Our Membership Together

1) Looking Ahead: The Next 4 Months

It is never too early to start thinking about your next board. Having these conversations ahead of time makes transitions easier and takes the pressure off everyone involved. This is also a great opportunity to start building a digital PTA toolbox where important contacts, and notes live in one easy-to-find place. A little planning now helps new board members feel supported and keeps your PTA moving forward without missing a beat.

2) Reflections Entries Due Jan 18

The Reflections deadline is coming up quickly. Local PTAs must submit their selected student entries by January 18. Now is a great time to review your entries, confirm your winners, and make sure everything is ready to submit. This program is a wonderful way for students to share their creativity, and meeting the deadline ensures their hard work moves forward to the state level. If you have any questions, please email Misty Richmond at reflections@louisianapta.org

3) 2026 National PTA Legislative Conference

LEG CON is a great opportunity to advocate for children and families by meeting with our representatives in Washington, DC, or their staff to discuss important PTA issues. No prior advocacy experience is needed, and participants are supported throughout the process. If you are interested in attending, registration costs are typically under $1,000 and are paid by your local PTA. Early bird registration ends January 15, and the deadline to purchase tickets is February 9. Learn more at PTA.org.

4) Let's Grow Membership Together

The new year is a great time to reach out and invite more families, staff, and community members to join. Have you turned in your membership yet? Have you reached your goal? If not, now is the perfect time to keep the momentum going. Every membership strengthens local PTAs, supports advocacy for children, and helps connect families and schools across Louisiana. If you need help submitting membership or support in growing your membership, email Peggy Mauer at Membership@LouisianaPTA.org

5) Givebacks and Affiliation Help

If you haven't figured Givebacks out yet, check out LouisianaPTA.org/givebacks. We also have a video tutorial on submitting dues. Once you get this initial set up done, it should be easy sailing afterward. For affiliation help, email Philip Davis at Affiliation@LouisianaPTA.org.

Thank you for working so hard for all students!
